Saturday Night Live welcomed the star of Star Wars: Rogue One, Felicity Jones, to studio 8H. She at least tried to hold her own, though physical and improv comedy are clearly not her strong suits. She was game for some on-point sketches.
First off, we got a Carrie Fisher tribute, of a sort, in the monologue from Tina Fey. Fey dressed in a bit of an homage to Princess Leia. She appeared as a hologram, to guide Jones through her first time hosting.
Also salient was the show’s excellent roast of The Bachelor. They follow a formula with this skit, because The Bachelor follows a formula, but look out for Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon who steal the thing.
Trump was the cold open again, and I think we can all expect that to be the case for the foreseeable future. Alec Baldwin goes in on the golden showers dossier, with a litany of pee jokes that are not to be forgotten.
Donald Trump's Press Conference
Alec Baldwin is back doing his Trump impression (so at least we know what Trump will tweet about today), so hold on to your "tits and bits." But if you try to ask him about the golden showers, it didn't happen (and it's not as cool as it sounds). Seriously, I haven't heard this many pee jokes in my life, but it was a golden opportunity. Seriously, though, this is one of those "laugh until you cry/it's funny because it's true" skits.
Felicity Jones' Monologue
Tina Fey shows up in what is decidedly not a tribute to Carrie Fisher's Princess Leia, but a tribute to Eileen Fisher.
Beard Hunk
SNL roasts the new Bachelor, with Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon stealing the show as a single mom who'd love to jack you off and a Hooters cook, respectively. When he doesn't mind that Felicity has five STDs, but sends her home for only bringing a one-piece swimsuit — too real.
Shondra & Malik
This week's digital short teams Leslie Jones and Keenan Thompson in a face-off, until Malik's broke-down wheels become a problem. And Shondra has a heart attack. And then, you know, fiery death.
Pete Davidson's First Impressions
Oh god, they're letting Davidson do political skits. He runs down Trump's cabinet nominees with something close to accuracy (Ben Carson did not live in public housing though bro). His Eric Trump roast is on-point.
