After the initial moment of "OMFG it's snowing outside!" passed this morning, we were left with the more practical issue of deciding what on earth to wear to while braving the treacherous London streets. Getting dressed when the going gets freezing is truly an art form, especially if sartorially referencing the Michelin Man or Nanook of the North isn't your thing. Fortunately, Matthew Williamson and Ballantyne have come to our rescue with a collaboration that will make dressing for chilly conditions just that little bit easier. The one-off capsule collection of cashmere knitwear will feature styles for both men and women, and designs are inspired by "British heritage." While few details of the collection have been revealed, this preview sketch suggests there'll be plenty of lashings of Williamson's signature bright colour and prints to combat gray skies and sub-zero temperatures.
“It was a privilege to work with Ballantyne, an iconic brand possessing such a rich British heritage," said Williamson. "Ballantyne have a great appreciation of style and craftsmanship which truly complements the Matthew Williamson brand.”
The only snag? The range will be unveiled for the first time in February during Milan Fashion Week, meaning that these cashmere beauties won't hit stores until July. And while we admit London weather is unpredictable at the best of times, we're fairly certain that July is the one month when snow isn't in the cards.
