The Craziest Movies About Time Travel, Ever

You’ve probably been asked this question on the first day of every single thing you’ve done. If you could have any superpower, what would it be? There is a correct answer: invisibility, obviously. But a very close second is time travel. A superpower is ultimately an asset that enables you to be a better person. The ability to visit different time periods to gain insider knowledge or change the past is pretty cool, but also risky.

You might get stuck in the past with no clue how to get back to your normal life. And then there's that whole ripple effect thing — accidentally knock over one little teacup and all of a sudden World War III is happening. If you're traveling to the future, all you're going to do is wonder, "How did this happen?!" and then obsess about how to change it, making all of your friends and family hate you.

But isn't this the stuff great movies are made of? These movies prove it.

The Funniest Movie Quotes Of All Time

Twelve Monkeys (1995)

Imagine being a young child at the airport and witnessing someone being shot dead. Now imagine that the person being shot dead is also you. It’s kind of impossible, but that’s what happens to Bruce Willis in this movie. He’s also trying to stop a virus that will wipe out most of humanity.

The Butterfly Effect (2004)

Ashton Kutcher is a traumatized kid trying to change the past, but he only winds up making everything worse for him and his friends. If that isn’t a metaphor for my life, I don’t know what is.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban(2004)

Harry Potter and Hermione travel in time, produce a Patronus, free a Hippogriff, and create a werewolf diversion to free Sirius Black in the Prisoner of Azkaban. And then that monster Bellatrix takes him away from us less than two years later. The problem here is that you can’t control the future.

The Lake House (2006)

Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves write letters to each other for two years via time traveling snail mail to start a love affair and save Reeves’ life.

I think I’ll stick with Tinder for now.

13 Going On 30 (2004)

This movie is crazy because what 13-year-old wants to be 30, flirty, and thriving? When I was 13, all I wanted to be was 16 so that I could drive.
