What comes to mind when you think about celebrities in beauty ads? Maybe the latest face of CoverGirl? Perhaps Kerry Washington's longtime partnership with Neutrogena? One of the numerous actors and actresses who've done campaigns for Proactiv, perchance? No matter what pops into your head, we bet it isn't what's in the slideshow ahead.

It just so happens that some of your favorite celebs starred in ads for beauty brands in the '90s and '00s — and, boy, are they a blast from the past. Now, we know it's far from practical to invest in a beauty product just because a celebrity claims to use it. But still, it is fun to look back on ads from years gone by.

Click through to see some of the lesser-known celebrity beauty endorsements through the years.

Christina Aguilera has her own perfume now, but in 2000, she served as the face of a different cosmetics company.

In 2000, Aguilera signed a deal to become a Fetish Cosmetics (yes, that was really the brand's name) spokesperson.

Tyra Banks taught the world how to smize. But do you remember her starring in beauty ads?

Banks was a CoverGirl. Fun fact: When Janelle Monáe later became a face of the cosmetics line, she told Vogue that she had admired Banks' ads growing up.

Sarah Michelle Gellar won over our hearts as Buffy the Vampire Slayer...

The actress also starred in an ad for Maybelline's Express Finish nail polish — just look at that perfect manicure.

*NSYNC probably isn't the first group that comes to mind when you think about celebrities in beauty ads.

But *NSYNC starred in an ad for Herbal Essences. Because everyone wanted to copy Chris Kirkpatrick's hairstyle.

You know Alexis Bledel as Gilmore Girls ' Rory, but do you remember her '90s beauty ads?

Some have noticed that Bledel's pose in this ad for Naturistics Lip Sparklers resembles that of Simpsons character Mr. Burns.

Mandy Moore stars on This Is Us now, but the Princess Diaries -era Moore looked very different in her Neutrogena ads.

You probably remember seeing celebrities in Proactiv ads. But do you remember Mandy Moore and Jennifer Love Hewitt from this Neutrogena promotion?

Rooney Mara is a two-time Oscar nominee, so it's no surprise that her beauty role involved acting, too.

Mara starred in advertisements for Calvin Klein's Downtown fragrance. The ads included a David Fincher-directed commercial.

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson has starred in many roles over the years — including one devoted to fragrance...

Hudson served as a spokesperson for Avon's Imari Seduction fragrance in 2007.

Rebecca Romijn has played many roles over the years as an actress and model.

Do you remember Alexander Skarsgård's fragrance ads from 2012?

Skarsgård served as the face of Calvin Klein's Encounter, and the campaign included a short film that starred him and Lara Stone.

Actress and model Denise Richards has been in the spotlight for many years, and this beauty ad is a total flashback.

Wen wasn't the first beauty line Alyssa Milano advertised.

Milano starred in some seriously sexy Candie's ads in 1999.

Cindy Crawford is a supermodel, so it's no surprise she's been featured in beauty ads.

Who wouldn't want this Revlon blush after seeing Crawford's luminous glow?

Claudia Schiffer joins Cindy Crawford on the list of legendary supermodels who've also starred in beauty ads.

Schiffer has walked plenty of Chanel runways, so it's no surprise that she starred in ads for the brand's fragrance, too.

DJ Mark Ronson may seem like an unlikely candidate to serve as the face of a beauty brand, but the explanation makes perfect sense.

In 2012, Ronson starred as the face of Fendi's first fragrance for men. Vogue Paris reported at the time that the brand "wanted a man who is both modern and rock-'n'-roll, capable of embodying Fendi's own view of masculinity according to: seductive, unique, vibrant, and chic."
