The lovely Lily Rose Cooper, (a.k.a. the artist formerly known as Lily Allen) has given birth to her second child. Congrats! According to reports, the singer welcomed a girl on Tuesday, January 8, and has given her the adorable moniker, Marnie Rose.The Brit singer and Lucy In Disguise proprietor already has a daughter, 14-month-old Ethel Mary, with husband Sam Cooper. We're waiting on official confirmation, but an unnamed friend of the couple apparently told tabloid reporters this morning that all is awesome with the new arrival.
"Marnie is a real cutie. Sam and Lily are ecstatic about adding another girl to the family," a source told The Sun . "A little sister for Ethel is brilliant news to lift the January blues for the family."
As for the name? We have to give Lily and Sam props for bucking the usual celebrity gouge-our-eyes-out clichés. After all, the world has more than enough A-list children named after cookery ingredients, obscure towns, and features of topographical interest running around.
We just hope that Lily and Sam's new offspring isn't named after Hitchcock's Marnie, where the eponymous heroine is a thief who fears men, thunderstorms, and the colour red. If that's the case, then perhaps, being named after a vegetable isn't so bad after all.
