UPDATE: What resolutions? Enjoy yourself this weekend by indulging in the best bites NYC has to offer. This story was originally published on December 18.

With all the Christmas shopping, holiday parties, and general shenanigans you’re getting into right around now, this is no doubt an exhausting, awesome time of year. And, with this slam-packed schedule, you’re going to need to fuel up more than usual (that’s our way of saying go ahead, let yourself "gorge on pie and cured meats"). So, we thought we would remind you of the BEST restaurant openings of the year—an instant flashback of the must-visit hot spots that made 2012 so, well, delicious.

From Southeast Asian establishment Pig & Khao to upscale Mexican haunt El Toro Blanco, we've got 27 UH-MAZING eateries that added flavor to the Big Apple this year. And are super-high on our holiday-reservation wish lists. As for 2013? We're already putting our names on those wait lists.

Best-of-the-Boot

The Best of the Boot:
NYC isn’t exactly short on Italian fare, but there are five booty-licious newbies you should add to your list of old faves.

Isola Trattoria
Abandon the concrete jungle for a night and step into this dream-inducing resto, boasting ornate glass chandeliers and oasis-like potted plants and trees — plus, delish crudo and a paper-thin Baby Artichoke Pizza.
Isola Trattoria, 9 Crosby Street (between Grand and Howard streets); 212-389-0000.

Sirio Ristorante
Sirio Maccioni (that dude who opened famous New York restaurants like Le Cirque back in the 70s) is alive and well and…still opening restaurants. His latest venture, Sirio Ristorante, is an elegant, intimate Italian spot in the Pierre Hotel.
Sirio Ristorante, 795 5th Avenue (at 61st Street); 212-940-8195.

L’Apicio
We love L’Artusi and Dell’anima, so when we heard Chef Gabe Thompson was opening a new spot serving modern Italian bites, we went immediately and stuffed our faces with dishes like Pappardelle with short-rib ragu and roasted mushroom polenta.
L’Apicio, 13 East 1st Street (between Bowery and Extra Place); 212-533-7400.

Perla
It’s pretty tough to nab a res at this posh red-sauce joint. Good news: they reserve half the tables each night for walk-ins.
Perla, 24 Minetta Lane (between Sixth Avenue and MacDougal Street); 212-933-1824.

Rosemary’s
Dine on delectable pastas and salads made almost entirely with ingredients sourced from the building’s rooftop garden.
Rosemary’s, 18 Greenwich Avenue (at West 10th Street); 212-647-1818.
