If you even consider yourself mildly competent at thrifting, you know that finding a Pendleton anything is like striking gold — whether in a warm plaid, a vintage blanket, or a thick blanket coat, old-school Pendleton is very, very modern. But, for any of you who've visited a Pendelton shop, you may know that it's contemporary section felt way more dated than its vintage stuff did — we're talking pastel sweaters with patchworked cats, shawl-necked shells, and ruffle-necked satin blouses that Nancy Reagan might have fawned over.
But with Pendelton celebrating its 150 anniversary this year, the brand decided to finally get with the times — which means digging into its archives, without the help of a collaborator like Opening Ceremony or Comme des Garçons. The Thomas Kay Collection, named after Pendelton's original founder, features the mill's traditional weaves, fabrics, and patterns but in modern fits and contemporary cuts, which means you won't have to have your tailor deal with massive '90s-era shoulders or too-long, '50s-era hemlines. The women's collection will include henley tops, shirtdresses, cardigans, and the gorgeous, wool, jacquard coat you see above.
