Prabal Gurung's pre-fall '13 collection is sleek, romantic, playful, and professional. We know, not the crop of adjectives you immediately visualize working together in perfect harmony. And yet, leave it to this NYC darling to figure out the perfect balance between masculine edge and floaty fabrics that show off a woman's form. Aside from his tailoring chops, we chalk up the success of these new threads to his eclectic mood board, which boasts, among other things, snapshots of Leo DiCaprio and Claire Danes in Baz Luhrmann's 1996 masterpiece rendition of Romeo And Juliet. It's this pop-of-color, fantasy-with-hard-edges aesthetic that can be found in the floral silk, tuxedo-striped pants, boxy shirts and blazers, and embellished dresses of Prabal's complete pre-fall line. Now, if only wearing the collection could promise us a moment (however brief) with Leo.
