UPDATE: The wait is over, and Kate Spade has officially shown the new collection for her Saturday line. The brand's pre-fall '13 line included just what we predicted: brights, prints, and a plethora of skinny jeans, cropped pants, and blouses. But, it has to be said: Saturday looks an awful lot like J.Crew. Granted, there are only so many places that preppy-chic motifs can go nowadays, but we were expecting the pieces to be a little less...Jenna Lyons-esque. WWD got a look at the kit n' caboodle, so click through to judge for yourself. (Women's Wear Daily)
For those weeks when every day feels like Monday, Kate Spade's got your fashion cure. The preppy chic designer is launching a new line, appropriately titled Kate Spade Saturday, that's meant to "capture the spirit of Saturday, every day of the week." That's definitely something we can get on board with. The collection will feature everything from dresses and jackets to handbags, jewelry, and eyewear — all in bright, outgoing colors, of course. The prices will be about half the costs of Kate Spade eponymous line's offerings, with most items coming in at — wait for it — $130 or less. The range will also include home goods like coffee mugs and throw pillows, so that you can outfit your entire apartment with weekend cheer. While no stand-alone U.S. stores are planned as of now, you'll be able to nab all the Saturday lovin' you want on the yet-to-be launched website early next year — just make sure you save some of that Christmas money.
