Louis Vuitton has tapped the talents of the design duo behind the London '12 Olympic torch for a new collab. Yep. And, guess what it's asked them to create? Mmhmm. An eco-friendly travel lamp for the stylish nomads (natch).
Industrial designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, better known as BarberOsgerby, are one of 11 design studios to come up with a piece for Louis Vuitton's Objets Nomades collection, which builds on the French powerhouse's identity as a purveyor of haute travel goods. There's a total of 16 travel-inspired objects, from a hammock to a leather travel desk, and all have been created as one-off prototypes.
BarberOsgerby's hand-crafted travel lamp is described as being practical, cordless and solar-powered with a leather strap that means it can easily be "carried anywhere and everywhere, whether to the garden, the pool or the wilds."
While we applaud the concept as a prototype, we're a little concerned about whether this objet d'art would survive the actual wilds. Have the designers never camped at Glastonbury? Utter carnage.
The Objets Nomades collection is on show at the Louis Vuitton Miami Design District temporary store right now.
